Dear friends and partners,
We have watched as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has already impacted communities everywhere, taking a toll on lives, health systems and economies. We know you, like we here at the OSC, are eager to help fight the pandemic. That’s why we are happy to share the news about the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO), powered by our fiscal sponsor the United Nations Foundation as well as the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. Donations to this fund go to support the efforts by WHO and its partners to prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world.
Donations can be made directly online at www.covid19responsefund.org or via check or wire transfer to either the United Nations Foundation or Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. Visit the fund’s Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about which donation mechanism may be right for you.
As WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus said, “We are all in this together. We all have a role to play. Facts not fear. Reason not rumors. Solidarity not stigma.”
As in past epidemics, Free & Open Source Software will have a big role to play, and we hope that many of you are able to contribute your talents, skills, and technology. There will be more news about these efforts in the weeks and months ahead.
We value your partnership and know that by taking collective action together, we can all play a role in protecting communities around the world. Please consider donating as your resources permit, and sharing information about this campaign to your networks, friends, and families.
