Hi @rpatterson et al, I have a few random items we can put into the pool of topics. If not for this week maybe for subsequent weeks. In no particular order:

  • Update on digital public goods & catalog planning work from engineering team
  • High level readout of Brussels activities from @harensen for stuff beyond what can be posted here
  • Share-out of individuals’ OSC-related goals for the year
  • Review of folks’ current and past blockers from the past week’s daily standups
  • Big items coming up in the coming week others should knowr about

Do other folks have topics we want to potentially slate on the agenda for tomorrow? Reply here and chime in if so!

From my side, updates from the past week include:

  • Sustainability: Assisting Primero with open topics related to licensing & trademarks, preparation for their upcoming presentations.

  • Membership programs: CG-04 round is underway, and we have begun responding to Q&A. Lots of web traffic to the grant materials and lots of publicity during the extended FOSDEM weekend. As noted in daily standups, we are blocked on moving forward with Bitergia while we await feeedback from UNF/BSBR related to contract format. We continue to work on developing & improving the OSC Hub, with more transparent program management in the #pgm categopry, and with new discussions starting to kick off with our partners in the Health sector related to the recent OpenLMIS webinar over in the #discuss:health category.

  • Mentorship programs: We are also waiting on guidance about early invoicing for our mid-year Outreachy round, for which we have 7 OSC member projects on the potential org roster. The year-end round is progressing well, just passed the mid-point with the internships ending in March. We’re also waiting to hear back from Outreachy about potential additional funding for extra internship slots. GSoC application has been submitted and participants are announced at 2020-02-20T19:00:00Z. We project a total of nine (9) OSC member projects participating in GSoC this summer, with 3 (or more) of them under our umbrella and the remainder participating in standalone mode.

Updates from the past week:

Participation in SustainOSS, Copyleft, and Fosdem conferences in Brussels. Continued participation with the community of Open Source Sustainers and key partnership development meetings.

Met with Enabel, GIZ, King Baudouin Foundation, and Bluesquare regarding opportunities for partnership with the Open Source Center.

Here is a summary of today’s weekly OSC extended team meeting. Thanks to those who attended!

Discussion topics

  • New team meeting/update cadence: Daily standups (all OSC team), Weekly meeting (all OSC team + interested parties), Semi-monthly OSC governance meeting (generally only @osc-gab will be needed) , participating in DIAL’s P1 Monthly Review (all OSC team and other DIAL teams as relevant). Each type of reporting activity will generate some type of artifact for documentation.

  • DIAL Workplan for OSC: Folks should look at this spreadsheet to ensure that their upcoming activities for this quarter are covered. We will work to harmonize our existing plan for GitLab tracking and this spreadsheet.

  • Report from @harensen on Belgium meetings: SustainOSS led to creation of several working groups, we will participate in a business models group; Other related meetings with several organizations, companies, and charities, and possible new funding for forthcoming grant rounds; Met with several potential donors and implementers based in and around Brussels about potential new partnerships; discussed possible ways a new climate-related project could benefit from OSC services.

Blocker review and weekly preview

  • @downey reviewed issues about Bitergia & Outreachy, covered below. We encountered some bugs with Discourse & the GSoC platform - remember to work promptly with the support systems in place to decrease blocked time! Next week will focus on supporting project idea development for GSoC & Outreachy, and responding to grant questions and conversations.

  • @harensen discussed challenges with a contract for a new sustainability engagement mentioned below, which represents a new way for funds to flow through the UNF system. DIAL ops team are working to streamline this as much as possible as the same issues will probably recur. Next week will be focused on this and another project engagement on governance structures, as well as a trip report and creating some new written resources for partnership development.

  • @sfarooqi continues a focus on formats and distribution for our sustainability resources; has been working with the Digital Principles community on methods of consumption.

  • @sconrad is focused on new collaboration with the UNICEF Innovation tech team on our collective work on platforms to support digital public goods, and integrating the DIAL project on maturity model rubrics into the product registry platform.

Asynchronous weekly updates
